Some of the pages from my sketchbook for our new project.. drawing everything we like. Next week we have to try and make a creature that has grown from the 'primordial swamp' of our worlds.. and then make a costume for it.

Carving
Last year on my foundation course i started making these huge great block prints of my drawings, it basicly developed through me not having enough money to pay for large scale prints and then became something that i really enjoyed. Since making them though i havent really done much carving.. just the odd little thing and i really have a craving to do some more carving.
I was looking through a modigliani book last night and he inspired me to do some more portraits, Im gona do one of my friend mary, i took some photos and did these befor bed.
hopefully soon i will have a huge beautiful piece of wood to show you as the result..
a pheasent and a quail
Ive been looking into the idea of screen printing images of a nest on to quilts and playing around with that idea. Mostly ive been researching english woodlands and the animals that inhabit them, its amazing... you forget about the skylarks, crows, barn owls and buzzards that all live naturally in the wild. i suppose in london you can feel so far removed from that natural world where everything really can live without human monitoring.
