Elizabeth Catlett

For my dissertation i am writing about the Mexican Revolution and Printmaking. I am discovering some beautiful and inspiring images, this one the 'Share Cropper 1915' is so perfectly executed, great stimulus for the personal project!

Tethered to the dirt brick walls

We live at one with varmint

Stale smoke and black pellets

Curried redolence

Muttered voices

Scratching, griping

Bone tired eyes

Whistling, wailing

A rascally brood

We are, the bedraggled children of Cable Street.

More glimpses and moments from Peckham highstreet.

Lauren Nassef

Skilled and perceptive drawings. Pretty nice stuff.

Again the brilliance of Dietland Wolf. Colour.

Incredible drawings created by anonymous Hindu tantra Devotees on salvaged paper. They show states of being, the indian tradition goes back to the 1600s. More.

Studies of Frances

Made in her studio, looking at colour and the objects that make up her practice.

Friday, 13 January 2012

I made a woodcut of Francis the other day, its a practise for the personal project. im trying to make the lines lighter than previous woodcuts and playing with the negative, to print next week.

Playing with Colours.

Ceramicist Frances Wright makes beautiful delicate and inspiring objects. She is one of the makers from which i will be making studies and eventually a woodcut print for my personal project. Work is pilling up.

Millinery Project.

A new commission for Milliner Thirzie Hull, I am designing illustrations for her website, these are just preliminary sketches. Her hats are beautiful and have animal themes running through so when i begin adding colour i want to convey something of this. Its great to be doing another interesting and creative commission, juggling it with the personal project though will take some impressive dexterity and organisation!
